was born and raised on a tobacco turned cash crop farm in Northumberland County. She attended the University of Guelph and received a degree in Agricultural Sciences, specializing in Agricultural Communications and Rural Development studies. She is a full partner in her husband’s family dairy farm, Almerson Farms Ltd, in Campbellford, ON, and the office manager at Meekes Farms in Castleton, ON. She also works part-time as a Pioneer dealer with the Dairyhirst Seed Agency, owned and operated by Ron Elmhirst.
Amy has been certified as a Canadian Quality Milk Advisor, Business Retention & Expansion Consultant, and Eastern Canadian Farm Writer. Currently she serves as the President for the Quinte Soil and Crop Improvement Association and is the OSCIA Workshop Leader for Lennox & Addington, Hastings, and Prince Edward counties. She’s been published regularly in the Ontario Grain Farmer, Top Crop Manager, and Country Guide magazines and is occasionally engaged as an agricultural speaker.
